Donuts!

We live about 4 minutes from a Krispy Kreme. We decided to delay school a little and go grab a yummy, healthy breakfast.

Fabric!

I found another gem. It is a fabric store, I know, shocker. I wanted to show the street that it is on, because it is truly a "Mexico" kind of street.

Book Club

Sometimes all you need is a super late night with great friends via Skype.

Mi casa

My Mother-in-law asked me to post pictures of our house. I am missing a few of our kitchen, breakfast nook, dining room and "office/wet-bar". I will get those later. The first picture is what you see when you come into the front door.

To the left is our living room as well as the stairs. The doorway on the right is to our kitchen. The door and room you can see straight ahead is our school/toy room. You can see a chair or two right before the school room and that is a small sitting table right in front of the wet-bar. To the right of the school room is a GIANT dining table that we use as our sewing, puzzles, Lego table.

As for the rest of the pictures, I think you can figure them out.

Earthquake

Typing on my computer instead of my phone... enjoy the Spanish editing....

I have not ever felt an earthquake, until This Morning. A magnitude 7.5 earthquake hit Acapulco. I sure hope the people visiting there are fine.

Everywhere you go here, You have to take a ticket to park and pay for parking (like the malls in downtown Salt Lake.) The girls and I had just finished grocery shopping and Were at the little parking ticket kiosk. I was looking down to get money out of my purse and started to feel a little dizzy. I Looked at the sliding doors at the store and They Were moving. I did not think anything other than 'oh great, I am a little dizzy, I guess a migraine is coming on. '

You know When you get off a roller coaster or some kind of ride That makes you a little disoriented. That is what it felt like, for 10 seconds.

A bunch of people ran out of the store towards the parking lot, and the store manager came over to me and started speaking Spanish. I told him I do not speak Spanish and I said, "An earthquake, you need to get your kids out now! Did you not feel that, you need to get out!"

So, the girls and I walked out to our van and loaded it up with groceries.  While I was loading my groceries, my cell phone was going off like crazy notification. Ryan was texting to make sure I was ok. alarms at the temple The Were going off. I  said I watched his car, and it was shaking like someone was in it and jumping all around. The trees at the temple Were shaking like crazy.

We are all safe!

Pedicures

After our trip to the beach, my girls feet were peeling. Yes, the bottom of their feet. N.A.S.T.Y!

We pulled out a little container and had fun scrubbing and getting those tootsies nice and soft again.

We are one big emotional at this house.

Let me start by saying I am going on 18 hours and only 4 hours of sleep the night before. When this happens, my brain gets a wee bit emotional.

My kids haven't had a normal bedtime schedule since our trip to Acapulco. A couple of my girls, when they lack sleep.... wowzers, it makes for some serious emotions!

So all of those combined.... and these are my thoughts:

I wish I were home today. Like, home home. In my South Jordan house, in my sleep number bed enjoying the lack of dogs barking all night.

My girls have really handled this whole move incredibly well. There really hasn't been any complaining or any problems. It's like a super long vacation.

Today, one of my girls hit the bottom. The Sunday before left, there were lots of tears. My girls were so sad to leave their friends, their Primary teachers, their Primary leaders. I looked them in the eyes and promised them that they would have friends, good friends right away. I lied to my kids. I shouldn't have promised that. I guess I thought things would be a little different than what they are.

My girls are bonding so well with each other. I am so grateful for this experience so that my girls have to play with, rely on and have to get along with each other. It just breaks my heart that as I am making great friends, they aren't. Instead they are missing their friends back home immensely.

So today, it has been a hard day. Hopefully tomorrow after a full nights rest and some Skype time with some bff's back home we will all feel better. And, back to loving and enjoying being here.

See.... one big crazy emotional roller coaster over. Boy, it will sure be fun in 8 years when all of us girls are menstruating at the same time. Poor Ryan.

Crazy

Sometimes you just have to throw in a little crazy....

The Basket House

The 2nd week we were here, we went to a neighboring city to check out a little basket shop. This shop is just a small quaint little shop next to the shop-owners house. I don't know why, but this little place just intrigues me. So, on my Mom's last day here, we took a little trip over to Toluca.

Who eats this stuff??

We had a yummy treat a couple weeks ago at a local market. It was sugar/candy coated pumpkin seeds (not the normal kind, some other kind) and sunflower seeds. They are DELICIOUS! After our trip to the zoo, we saw a lady selling munchies. Like candy, nuts, seeds. I saw those Mexican pumpkin seeds and thought we would but some so I could candy them.

Well, when I saw some of the other "treats" she had Four sale, such as candied crickets and little goldfish size candied fish. it grossed me out enough that I just walked away without my pumpkin seeds.

Back to the title of this post... Who eats this stuff?

Little candied fish and crickets.... yummmmmm. Bleh!

Chapultepec Zoo

Today we went to the Chapultepec Zoo with my Mom. It it a pretty good zoo. The BEST part of it was the butterfly exhibit. My girls are totally into butterflies... their girls! Butterflies and fairies, it's who we are here in this girly house.

We saw so many different kinds of butterflies. We saw caterpillars, we saw cocoon's, we saw the butterflies hatching.  We actually got to open a container that had a hatched butterfly, waiting to fly. They asked us to "name our butterfly". It was a beautiful light green butterfly, so naturally the girls named it "Minty". Brooklyn came up with that one.

She is a funny kid, she wasn't a huge fan of the butterfly exhibit. At first she thought it was cool, until they starred flying all around her. Scared the poor girl.

There was a butterfly that crawled onto Lauryn's finger. That made her day!

We took my Mom to a great little Mexican restaurant called Villa Maria. We saw this little sitting area outside and I had to take a picture of the girls.

I love it here, I am grateful we jumped in together to do this crazy adventure. I am loving it, but I really miss Target and Cafe Rio. But being able to order Fresca at every restaurant is sort of an ok trade.  We are loving Mexico. We are making great friends. We get to see so many neat things. We see so many tender mercies from our Savior, and we are so grateful for the amazing opportunity Ryan has to work on the house of the Lord. The hundreds and thousands of people that this temple blesses just makes this an even richer experience.

We are blessed!
(Yes Tricia, I said it... just for you.)

Fun in the sun!

My parents came to see us for several days. It has been so much fun having them. It was their 46th anniversary while they were down here. So, we decided to hop in the van and take the 4 hour drive to Acapulco.

Our drive started out with a terrible navigator.... me. So after realizing we were on the wrong road (after a good 45 minutes), we decided to swing back the way we came and go the right way.

The nice lady that speaks on the GPS.... is an idiot. My least favorite phrase in the whole world is "slight right/left" because what that translates to is... "Hey stupid driver, I just told you to veer off and you thought you were smarter than me and now you are lost, let's figure out where the heck you are and get you to where you are going". With that being said, after the 45 of me being a bad navigator and realizing I need to keep quiet... the dumb GPS lady got us lost as well... 2 hours later we were out of Mexico City and beach bound.

We stayed at a beautiful hotel called Fairmont Princess. It was AWESOME! We happened to stay the same weekend that there was a huge bankers convention going on. It was our little family, my parents and hundreds of business bankers. It was great! While we were there, on day two, we noticed heightened security, like big time. The president of Mexico came to the hotel. That was fun to watch.

We had a blast playing in the pools, eating yummy food, playing in the sand, boogie-boarding. It was such a great weekend, other than when the cheeky-leeky crab pinched Lauryn's finger. Poor girl.

We learned that you can't find Aloe Vera in Mexico. We learned that the sunscreen from last Summer really does lose it's ability to keep the sun away. We learned that after kids have been out of a crib for awhile, a crib becomes a new and fun adventure. We learned that we LOVE LOVE LOVE Acapulco, and we are totally going back at least 3 more times while we are down here.

Here are some pics of our trip.
